Differences from Roll Straightening

Rotary straightening differs from roll straightening in that it flexes the material back and forth using a rotating bending axis rather than a fixed line of rolls. How many bending cycles the material undergoes depends on both the line speed and how fast the spinner rotates. The tooling involved typically includes straightening blocks, cheeks, or rolls.

This method is most commonly applied to rods and bars, where the material's tendency to spring back—from bending as well as torsional stress introduced during cutting—needs to be corrected.
